It’s safe to say the Union Bears are ready for the regular season.
Kam Bostic threw three first-half touchdown passes as the bunch from Big Stone Gap rolled to a 45-0 win over the Alleghany Cougars in a VHSL Benefit Game on Friday night at Emory & Henry University’s Fred Selfe Stadium.
Bostic hooked up with Kam Maddox, Carlos Anderson and Camden Wharton on scoring strikes and Keith Chandler had a 1-yard touchdown run as the Bears sprinted out to 28-0 halftime lead.
Kameron Bishop kicked a 23-yard field goal, Abe Hall threw a TD pass to Kaden Keith and Elijah Lomax rushed for a score in the second half.
“I thought our guys played extremely hard on both sides of the football,” said Union coach Travis Turner. “The offensive line did a good job in run blocking and pass protection. Kameron Bishop did a good job with his field goal kicking, hitting all his extra points and a short field. The defense played really well. WE did a good job tackling in space. It was a total team effort on defense.”
Union opens the season at Mountain 7 District rival Lee High on Aug. 29.
