CLINTWOOD, Va. — The Dickenson County Board of Supervisors and Dickenson County Industrial Development Authority welcomed stakeholders from across the region Monday to the newly constructed Wildwood Recovery Center.
The new treatment facility is dedicated to addressing substance use disorder in Southwest Virginia, according to a written statement.
During the event, facility operator Addiction Recovery Care announced receipt of a licensing introduction letter from the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services, a major milestone in the project’s development.
That is first step toward licensure and operation of the facility.
“This is a transformational moment for Dickenson County and for the region as a whole,” said Dana Cronkhite, Dickenson County economic development director. “Wildwood is more than a treatment facility. It is a cornerstone of our strategy to address addiction and rebuild lives, families and our local workforce. A healthy community is a strong community, which fuels a stronger and more resilient economy for us all.”
The event included remarks from local officials and ARC leadership and was attended by regional partners who have supported the project since its inception, according to the statement.
Stakeholders were given a guided tour of the facility, showcasing the center’s modern, residential-style accommodations and its integration of clinical care, life skills training and employment pathways.
Wildwood Recovery Center is located on a county-owned site in the Red Onion section of Dickenson County. Once fully licensed and operational, the facility will provide comprehensive residential addiction treatment spanning a complete continuum and job readiness services, supporting both the health and economic vitality of Southwest Virginia.
“This milestone gets us one step closer to offering hope, purpose and recovery for individuals struggling with addiction,” said Lawrence Vinson, Chief Operations and Nursing Officer of ARC. “We are proud to partner with Dickenson County to help change lives and strengthen communities.”
ARC expects to finalize the licensing process in the coming months.
