Scott County has a weekend of options to celebrate the nation’s 250th anniversary of independence.
Weber City
The Weber City Volunteer Fire Department is celebrating the Fourth of July with food, cars, fireworks and blue Highway.
Gate open for the event – also a fundraiser for the fire department — at 4 p.m., Friday. The Classic Car Show begins at 5 p.m. in the fire department parking lot at the intersection of 149 Roland St. and U.S. Route 23.
Food trucks and cold drinks will be available at the event, and the blue Highway concert will be inside at the department’s indoor venue starting at 7:30 p.m.

The night’s festivities wind up to a fireworks display after the concert.

Dungannon
Dungannon celebrates July 4 with a traditional day and night of Independence Day festivities. Lineup for the annual parade starts at 3:30 p.m. for a 4 p.m. start.
Town Square will see a waterslide, bouncehouse and foam party from 5-7:30 p.m. Bingo starts at the Dungannon Depot at 5:30 p.m.
Kids can get free snow cones at Town Square from 6:30-7 p.m.
Town Square will see some summertime delicacies with a cakewalk at 7 p.m. and a hot dog eating contest at 7:45 p.m.
The band Southern Breeze brings live music to Town square from 6:30 – 9 p.m., and fireworks begin at dark.

Welcome Campfire, at Campfire Ring between the Campgrounds, Friday, 8 – 9 p.m. - Join us at the Community Fire Ring to relax, enjoy a roasted marshmallow, and get to know your camping neighbors. A ranger will be there for campfire activities and to answer questions about the park.

Wild Cave Tour: Bolling Cave, at Stock Creek Recreation Area, Saturday, 9 -11:30 a.m. - Get down and dirty with this two-hour wild cave tour. Explore the underground world of caves in their true form and discover the history this cave holds within it. View the archive room, stalactites and columns. There are no special effects/lights or sidewalks in the caves. Guests will be given a helmet, with a LED light on it, along with gloves and knee pads. Expect to get dirty during exploration. This program is open to anyone ages 10 and up. For your comfort and safety, appropriate pants and closed-toed shoes are required. Guest must use park gear. Art in the Park at the Picnic Area, Saturday, 3 – 5 p.m. - Enjoy an evening of painting at Natural Tunnel. Join Rangers Jessi and Kenley as they walk you through creating a nature themed painting. Lighting of the Tunnel at the Visitor Center, Saturday, 7 – 10 p.m. - Take a lantern lit chairlift ride down to the Natural Tunnel. Visit one of Scott County’s oldest buildings, the Carter Cabin, and listen to stories about the Wilderness Trail given by the Daniel Boone Wilderness Trail Association. Head out to the mouth of the tunnel to view the sheer limestone rock walls at night. Entertainment will get your toes tappin’ and your hands clappin’. Parking is $5 per vehicle. Touring the Galaxy at the park Gazebo, Saturday, 8:45 – 11:30 p.m.- Join astronomy volunteers as they share the stories written in the night sky. Two small telescopes and one larger telescope will be on hand for viewing. Feel free to bring along a chair or blanket. Meet at the gazebo. This program is FREE.

Stock Creek Passage at Stock Creek Recreation Area, Sunday, 10 – 11 a.m. – Walk the same areas where adventurers like Daniel Boone walked two centuries ago. Hike into the tunnel and view it from the inside out. The walk includes crossing boulders and rocks, just like the early adventurers. Learn how the tunnel was formed and is still changing. Wading attire, a flashlight, and a wading staff are highly recommended. Pre-registration is required. To reserve your spot for a program, contact the park office at 276-940-2674. The cost is $5 per person. This program is open to anyone age 8 and up. For your comfort and safety appropriate footwear is required; flip-flops, crocs, or sandals (including Chacos) are not allowed. Pets are not allowed as well.

B.A.R.K. Ranger Guided Hike, at the Blockhouse Parking Lot, Sunday, 2 – 3 p.m. - B.A.R.K. Ranger is an initiative for pets and their owners to establish and practice good behaviors. When at Natural Tunnel, pets are encouraged to join their owners on their adventures. Join a ranger-guided hike and obstacle course to see if your pooch has what it takes to become the next B.A.R.K. Ranger. The hike is a 0.6 mile round trip, moderate hike. Standard parking or admission fee applies.
Natural Tunnel State Park offers red/green colorblindness correcting outdoor glasses by EnChroma during all offered programming; three protan red sensitivity and three deutan green sensitivity are available for use during programs.
