HAAP temporarily furloughs employees

KINGSPORT — The Holston Army Ammunition Plant temporarily furloughed an undisclosed number of employees starting the week of Feb. 17.

Laura Clifford, senior communications manager for BAE Systems, stated in an email that the furloughs were “due to a short-term supply chain disruption.”

The HAAP employs around 1,000 people, and a percentage of them are furloughed.

“We are working closely with our Army customer to return all employees as quickly as possible to continue to deliver products for our armed forces,” Clifford stated.

Due to operational security, they could not disclose more information.
