McClung traded to G League's Windy City Bulls--Kingsport Times News

Gate City native and three-time NBA Slam Dunk champion Mac McClung has been acquired by the Windy City Bulls of the G-League.

McClung, the former Gate City standout and current NBA slam dunk champion, was acquired on Friday from the Osceola Magic, having played for them last season as part of the Orlando Magic.

McClung was signed-and-waived by the Chicago Bulls last week to route him to Windy City.

Osceola sent McClung’s G League returning rights, along with teammate Chris Walker, to Windy City, while Osceola will receive returning rights to Javon Freeman-Liberty and Mike Miles. G League draft picks were also part of the deal for Osceola.

McClung, who led Gate City to the 2018 Class 2 state championship, and later played collegiately at Georgetown and Texas Tech, played one NBA regular season game for the Los Angeles Lakers and Chicago Bulls during the 2021-22 season. He also saw action in two regular season games for the Philadelphia 76ers in 2022-23 and two games last season with the Magic. He has averaged 5.5 points, 2.3 rebounds and 2.2 assists in six games.

McClung will play in the G League for a fifth season, having averaged 23.1 points per game during his career, earning G League Most Valuable Player honors in 2024.
