Sheriff Jeff Edds arraignment postponed

GATE CITY – An arraignment for a charge against Scott County Sheriff Jeff Edds, Sr. has been postponed for weather.

The misdemeanor assault and battery complaint, filed Sept. 3 by Edds’ daughter-in-law Ashli Nicole Edds, claimed that the sheriff allegedly pushed her out of her home Sept. 1.

The arraignment has been moved to Wednesday, Jan. 23, in Scott County General District Court – the third time the case has been postponed since all the 30th Judicial Circuit’s judges and the Scott County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s office recused themselves from the case in September.

The case is being handled by the Craig County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s office, after the Pulaski County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s office on Sept. 13 discovered a possible conflict of interest involving Ashli Edds.
